Conner spent his childhood Saturday evenings listening to the series I Love a Mystery on the radio, and the theme song, composed by Jean Sibelius, is the basis of Conner’s VALSE TRISTE. MONGOLOID is a made-to-order music video for the band Devo. They call it “a documentary about a determined young man overcoming a mental defect and becoming a useful member of society”. The hysterical MEA CULPA is a collage, AMERICA IS WAITING even prophetic in the light of the events of September 2011. In CROSSROADS Conner reassembles footage of the hydrogen bomb testing on Bikini Atoll in 1946. EASTER MORNING became Conner’s testament and it remains his only film to have been screened at Cannes.
