Of Men and War

Military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan have left the United States with nearly three million war veterans. A third of them suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Filmmaker Laurent Bécue-Renard recorded the life of twelve war veterans in Pathway Home treatment centre in California. He was able to witness the wounded men open up for the first time and pour their hearts out about their disturbing experiences.

Their nightmarish stories reveal the truth behind the war hero myth. Not only enemy troops but also small children and friends died in the hands of American soldiers.

Despite its desolate subject matter, the film refuses to dwell in past horrors, rather it exudes faith in a brighter future.
